Once I’ve decided that I want my conversion with you, what is the next step?
We will arrange a meeting, if we have not already done so. We’ll discuss your options and requirements and draw up an itemised invoice to suit. If this is agreeable, we would then look to book your build into our diary.
Do I pay a deposit?
We ask for a nonrefundable build slot fee of £500 when we book you in the diary. This is offset against the total cost of the conversion or works carried out.
What are your payment terms?
Our payment terms are broken down into instalments as listed below:
- Upon booking – 1st payment: £500 nonrefundable booking fee to secure your build slot.
- 8 weeks prior to your build slot – 2nd payment: 50% of the total build/conversion cost, plus payment in full for your pop top roof. This will all be emailed across for your records once you book with us.
- Final payment: The remainder payment is only due upon completion of your converted van.
Please note: If a new van is also being ordered as part of the conversion, then there will be a further two payments taken for the deposit and the outstanding balance of the vehicle, unless finance is arranged.
When do I need to choose colours?
This is the fun part. We will always try to book in your one to one colour appointment up to 10 weeks prior to build slot. This allows us adequate time to order in the necessary parts and components for your conversion, so that when you drop your van off, there are no foreseen delays.
Once I’ve chosen the specification of conversion I want, if I want to add anything, is this possible?
After the initial meeting where we draw up your total invoice for you, we then invite you to choose colours. If after this you wanted to add something, as long as your van has not already arrived with us for the conversion, and we have not ordered in the parts/ started the build process – Yes of course you are able to add items or upgrades to your conversion. It is best to contact the VisionTech team as soon as possible and they can look at your individual file and talk you through that process.
How long will my conversion take?
We’ll need your van for 3 to 6 weeks dependent on what specification your are having. On average we’ll have your van for 4 weeks. On rare occasions the finish date can shift slightly due to unforeseen delays. We’ll always keep in contact with you should this ever happen.
How long is my VisionTech warranty?
We offer a 3 year warranty on all workmanship and appliances fitted by VisionTech, within your conversion. This excludes all batteries, which have a two year warranty.
How long is my HiLo Roof warranty?
HiLo Roofs offer a 5 year warranty on their pop top roof. You will receive a HiLo welcome pack upon collection of your completed van, with your warranty document.
When I collect my completed van, do I get training on how everything works?
Yes absolutely, upon collection of your van we like to go through all aspects of the van conversion, showing you how each part operates. We do give our customers a pack to take away, this gives detailed information on all aspects of your conversion, your warranty, as well as a frequently asked questions sections for your piece of mind.

How do I register my van once it’s been converted into camper van?
We have attached a registration template letter (links below) which you are welcome to use when sending your V5C document and copy of invoice to the DVLA. Within the template letter you will see that you will need to enclose some pictures of the van both externally and internally. Don’t worry – everything they need is listed in the template letter.
